If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by skincare, you’re not alone. With so many products and steps out there, it’s easy to overcomplicate things. The truth? A good skincare routine doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs to be consistent and in the right order. This step-by-step AM and PM skincare routine will help you achieve clear, glowing skin while taking the guess work out of it.
Morning
Protect & Hydrate
01
Cleanse
Think about it – you want to start your day fresh by washing away all the oil & sweat that built up overnight. Using a gentle cleanser will give you the perfect clean slate without being too abrasive first thing in the AM.
02
Tone
Toners help prep your skin and can add hydration or balance oil levels. This is your primer for all the other goodness, so don’t miss it. If you have sensitive skin like me you can start off by using every other day.
03
Pack on the Serum(s)
I like to use a single multi-benefit serum that creates smooth texture while allowing brightness to shine through. Hydrinity is made to quench your skin’s thirst and keeps my routine simple.
04
Vitamin C
A fan favorite to brighten your complexion, fade dark spots, and protect against environmental damage. And we all need a little extra boost 🙂
05
Moisturizer
Even oily skin needs hydration. In the morning, I opt for a lightweight moisturizer that layers well under makeup. See below for my thicker recommendation which I use nightly.
06
Sunscreen
If you’re going to do one thing, add this tinted sunscreen to your mornings. It’s my non-negotiable every.single.day ride or die product. Who doesn’t want the most natural looking tan while preventing premature aging with a strong SPF?!
Night
Refresh & Renew
01
Double Cleanse
This is my newest addition to the nightly routine and it’s made the biggest difference. Start with an oil based cleanser to wash away the day and polish off with a gentle one.
02
Exfoliate (2-3x per week)
You can apply this clay mask for 10 minutes and wash it off, or if you have dry skin like me I actually apply at the end to lock everything in & wear overnight for maximum hydration.
03
Retinol
Buzz word of the century! I like to use a lighter retinoid every other day – your future self will thank you…
04
Hydrating Serum
Hello glazed donut! If you have dry but sensitive skin, this is your holy grail. Especially after a retinol/retinoid.
05
Moisturize
At night I like to use the thickest moisturizer I can find. So far First Aid Beauty takes the cake but I’m still testing.
06
Face Oil
Your final chance to seal in moisture and wake up extra glowy. My nighttime routine has few more products, so a second oil needs to have simple ingredients like this one.
